I don't know of another good
I don't know of another good play in the city of Chicago, but there are some other places nearby. Check out this web page of the DuPage Woodworkers:

I like Owl Hardwood Lumber.

Owl Hardwood has 3 locations. Best thing is that you are able to see and pick your own wood as compared to other places like Heidler, Horn or Paxtons. Lots of choice.

The only other place I have found is Hardwood Resource, just east of Elston between North and Cortland. They don't have as much of a selection as Wood World but it is another option. I have been meaning to get out to Owl to check it out but have not made it yet. I have stopped in to the Badger Hardwood just off of 94 south of Milwaukee. They have lots of great stuff.
