Notice all the irregularities in the handcarvings? Very unique and a one of a kind. Anyone who appreciates something of this caliber please comment.
Thanks, Cindy
Great piece
Love Chippendale style pieces. Have not seen the seat type before.
Where did you find this?
An old friend who since has passed away sold this chair to me about nine years ago. He told me the chair was very special but did not elaberate. He had had a stroke and could not express himself in comperhindable words that satisfied him but would always ask if I had done anything with it every times we ran into one another. I didnt have enough knoweldge about antiques to understand or appreciate it so it sat in my dinning room all these years un-noticed and unthought about. About 3 months ago by coincidence I was talking to an artist from the Scottsdale Art Factory in Arizona about the chair, he wanted to take a look at it so I sent him pics.. About five days later he called me and said that he and 4 other experts debated over it and they decided it was from the early 1800s and believed to be of Ireland descent. He did give me what he believed to be the value of the chair; it was unreal.
Did you look at the other pics?
