For years, off and on, I have been using household bleach (Clorox etc.) as a bleaching agent. I would purchase it in the Grocery store and it was relatively inexpensive. It was, according to the label a 5% hypocholride solution. No longer is that stuff available in the grocery store. Now they have something called “Ultra” bleach that appears to be a 6% sodium hypochlorite solution. I am not a chemist and do not know whether that is a significant difference or not. Does anyone know how the new stuff compares to the old stuff and if it does not compare favorably, where one might go to get a 5% hypocholride solution?
Thanks

The additional 1% is just allow the market department to call it "NEW" Ultra bleach. It has no practical affect on the clothes or the wood. In fact, the more concentrated, the better it will work on wood.
Ain't marketing wonderful?
I believe that the old stuff was hypochlorite, not hypochloride. You should see no substantial difference.
