I have an older 10″ Bosch SCM saw, which I have adjusted to a fare-thee-well. I have only used its full capacity a couple of times. Because it’s a sliding saw its capacity as a chopsaw is very limited, so for anything over 3.5″ I have to slide it. I think that the sliding introduces inaccuracies, because I get a cut face that’s on average very square but not completely flat.
Will I get a more accurate cut if I change to a 12″ chopsaw? If so, are any in particular to be recommended? Or, would I get an improvement if I replaced the stock blade with a premium one?

The stock Bosch blade is not a very good blade. My old 10" Bosch SCMS blew the bearing at the end of the armature, if that's your case, a good blade won't help. If the saw is fine and set up properly, a better blade makes a world of difference.
Chopsaw
I have an older Delta chopsaw - no compound adj or slide.
It is rock steady - has a 10 inch carbide blade -
I've never been disappointed in the cut-
It's heavy - not for the job site - rather a shop tool
