I have a client who wants a contemporary teak table (24 x 60) for their office with tubular cross buck chrome legs. My problems are first, where to find the legs and second, how to attach them and be stable since the top is only a 8/4 slab with no apron, etc. Any suggestions?

Doug Mockett, http://www.tablelegsonline.com/ and a google search will turn up a number of metal legs sources.

What are "cross buck" table legs? Do they look like a sawhorse?
Shaped like the letter X
I would imagine the only way to install those legs will be with large screws driven up into the tabletop. The legs will probably come with the holes already tapped for you.
Difficult to suggest without a picture of what your attaching but assuming you'll have a mounting top plate going into 8/4.....you should have plenty of room to rout the plate shape into "the tops' bottom" (sounds like an english pub...hah!!).
Also think of the apron not being typically around the table but rather design an apron around the top of the legs in teak or a high-light wood. Maybe ebonize under there.
You've got all kinds of options.
