Both are quality products. And there are different models within the brands. I have the middle Nova Chuck but would love the Super Nova which operates with a chuck key(like a drill press chuck).
You can't go wrong with either one.

Thanks, Bruce -- I'm leaning toward the SperNova as I have some of the accessories. My original Nova chuck has a wobble but is way past the warranty period. Never noticed it doing large spindle work, but it became a problem when I started to do small stuff. Thanks. Jim
If you have ever had the jaws out to clean or what not, you may have gotten them back into the wrong slot. That will change the scrolling action and make them out of center. Just a thought for you to mull over. Right now I could go for whatever you're grilling ;-)

Been too hot here in Orlando recently for comfortable outdoor grilling, but I'm ready to go about now -- pulled pork and ribs. Drink beer and tend smoker all day loooong. C'mon over.
Too hot for grilling, I wish. Had about 1/2" of snow last night and cold rain today. Possibly 6" snow tonight depending on (Lake Erie) lake effect snow.Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

Jimma,
I have a supernova and about three sets of jaws, so they get changed all the time. I recently spent a whole $10 on a 'T' shaped hex key with a plastic moulded handle just for this task and it has improved both the comfort and speed considerably.
The jaws are made by turning a blank and then sawing into four parts, so putting them in the right place is critical. They also have a guide that fits into a slot on the jaw slide. This can get sawdust in it and move the jaw slightly unless it is cleaned and then assembled by fitting all the screws before tightening any of them. (sorry if this is suck-eggs stuff)
The distributor also recently gave me a tip that, although the jaws have a pretty fair amount of travel. the best grip and alignment was obtained when the spigot or recess was the same size as the jaw plus the kerf from cutting them apart. the reason is that this is cose to the circle oof the jaw and therefor has more of the jaw in contact with the work. This means about 1/8" bigger than the closed diameter of that set of jaws. In practice this seems better in expansion mode because there is no lattitude to deal with crushed wood on a small spigot.

As mentioned abve, I bought one last week. I also have three sets of jaws from my earlier chuck which work on the SuperNova 2 as well. Thanks for your response. Jim
Jimma,
I've got a Nova chuck, the G3. There's nothing wrong with it, however, I do like the Oneway jaws better. They have been engineered in a way that allows them to hold square billets with minimal damage. If I use my G3 to hold a square blank, I need to cut it longer so that I can cut off the damaged end (unless it will later be turned).

Ah, well, I popped for the SuperNova 2 yesterday, Chris, so I guess I'll find out sooner or later. It was on sale for under $150 at Woodcraft. Thanks for the tip, anyway. Jim
Initially purchased a Nova G3. It failed in a matter of weeks, didn't run true, jaws became misaligned.
Replaced it with a OneWay Talon, highly recommend the Talon, I have since purchased most of the jaw sets for the Talon too.
I haven't had any problems with mine. Is yours still in warranty? The company has been good to deal with for me.
Like I said, my set was probably a fluke, made on a Friday at quitting time and the machinist had enough for the day.
What warranty? Sorby has said they have no problems with these. I have e-mailed them photos, no reply. I'm pretty much fed up with these companies that produce inferior products and then tell me I don't know what I'm doing.
Bad situation. I've tossed the parts in my scrap metal bin.
