I recently aquired 4 church pews, made of oak, The wood on them is beautiful! I’m looking for ideas & plans to recreate them into other types of furniture. Thanks in advance to all that reply.

Church Pews
Our old church burned in a fire in 2006 and we salvaged the really old oak pews. When building the new church, we used the seats of the pews to make trim for windows and doors in the new building. The "ends" were considered unfit because of the joinery to the seats. I've taken them (they're 2" thick) and re-sawed and milled them to make all types of small projects like keepsake boxes, jewelry boxes, etc. The only constraint I've found is you have to stick to smaller projects because clear lengths are shorter. But the wood is truly beautiful. Keep in mind this wood is very hard and dry because of it's age.
