I have been trying to find what lubricant works best for treads on clamps. I’ve tried dry and wet with no luck. Before I go and buy 20 different tupes. I thought I would ask here first.

II just use J&B or W-D 40. Works good on the quick grip clamps too.
I've always used WD-40 on the screw threads of my Jorgensens and bar clamps. I also use it on the clamps in my welding (brazing) area. DO NOT use anything that contains SILICONE!

Will the dummy in the crowd please stand up. Ok, I'm standing.
What's not right with silicone?

Hi,
the silicone will contaminate your hands thus your wood. Later this will give you problem with finishing.

WD 40 gets my vote also...
ToolDoc
I've just used plain old 30 weight non-detergent oil. 3 and 1 makes a "fractional motor oil" that is 30 weight oil. I apply it, run the screw back and forth a couple of times and wipe up the excess. Put a drop into the area where the end of the screw goes into the foot also.
graphite powder works
How about past wax.
HD.
I would think paste wax could give one the same trouble as silicone, if it gets on your raw wood you can and will have trouble when its time to finish. My vote is for good ol trusty W-D 40, I pick up a can every time I go to Wally-World. Its gotten me out of many a sticky situation. Take care Rick............................
Once it dried, I wouldn't think it would transfer. Kind of like waxing a saw table.
bostick top coat works well for me
I thank I have answered my own question. I tried Boeshield T-9 it seems to work the best I have tried so far. It doesn’t leave the treads oily. It dries completely so it doesn’t rub off on your hands or collect saw dust. I have over 200 clamps so this was something of a problem. ( I have the strongest wrists in town )
Thank you all for your help
