I’m in love with Claro Walnut, but I can’t find any (at a reasonable price). My shop is in Puget Sound area (W. Washington state) and I know Claro Walnut is supposed to grow in California. Looking everywhere I can find, seems the material is spendy even where it’s supposed to grow. Being a domestic hardwood, I was hoping I could find it in California for a reasonable price. If that was the case, I would hitch up my flatbed trailer and take a road trip. Does anyone know where I can buy CW slabs for a reasonable price? Seems the good stuff is priced north of $20 a board foot. Well north. That seems high for a domestic hardwood. Any suggestions would be welcomed….

Have you looked at Goby Walnut in Oregon?
Good luck, Tom.
Take a look at e-bay there are some good vendors out of Oregon. There are a lot of people in California that mill walnut but I think the prices are pretty high. If you are up for a road trip you might take look for small mills in the central valley. Good luck I love this wood.
