I have this 2car that i’m converting to a shop. I’ve settled on the cement for now – so what i’m concerned about is the condition of the cement.
it’s dead flat, unless you count the paint and who-knows-what-else dripped on it over the years.
Am i going to have to use paint stripper AND etcher and what-else?
after a test run with the etcher on a patch, the cement is nice but all the rest is there. (stain from a prior feckless refinishing of garage door, and that’s just the start).
maybe I should just put my 6″ ROS onto it? seriously!!
TIA

May sound really stupid.. BUT it sort of worked for me.. Long ago I had the same sort of problem.. BUT I had little ones and the garage was attached so I did not want to use chemical strippers..
I rented a sander for hardwood floors.. Worked like a charm as I remember.. AND hardly any damage to the floor..
If I remember correctly I used a cement sealer that I applied with a squeegee.. Got the stuff from Granger or someplace.. But so long ago I forget the details.
However, it was/is a older house and the cement is REALLY hard..
Nice floor till' a BIG Silver Maple I had outside 'busted' the floor up! Damn tree!
Thanks, buddy. I'll try a section with my ROS and some 80 grit now.
ok IF anyone cares.... my contractor neighbor agreed i'd have to do both paint stripper AND etcher, and then suggested, per his experience, to rent a walk-behind concrete grinder - the stuff these guys know! he said i still might want to do a light (diluted) etching, but that sucker'll get everything off AND level any imperfections!
