I have some old sawn walnut and mullberry that has been sitting around in a shed. I want to build a nice rustic bookcase but the wood is very dirty and I don’t want to dull my tools. What is the best way to clean all the prairie dust off of the wood surface before I begin to work?

Making a rustic bookcase from a piece of wood is really a nice idea. But for cleaning that wood, you can wash off the dust from the wood, rinse it and dry it well. After drying it, you can shape it as you want.
take a hose and give a good spray to all the dirts to dust it off
