Has anyone used Deft clear wood finsh. I resently refinished two dining room tables. On the first table I did, I let it sit for about a week after the final coat to cure a bit. The people had dinner on the table the night tha I gave it to them. The table cloth they used left impresions all over. I did tell them not to use it for a week or so, but they didn’t listen. The second table I did sat here for about two weeks before delivery, and I told she let the table sit unused for three weeks bfore she put a table cloth on it and it still left impresions all over the table. Does this stuff need extra long cure time. What is a good durable finish for a dining room table?

I haven't used Deft myself. But, it is a nitrocellulose lacquer. It doesn't cure by oxidation, like a varnish, it cures by evaporation of the solvent, like shellac. It should be a relatively hard finish. That you found it otherwise suggests a problem either with that batch of finish or with preparation.
What finish was on the tables before you refinished them? How did you strip it off, and prepare the wood for the new finish. Was there stain, or a sealer? The answers to these questions might help avoid a reoccurance of the problem.
Thanks for the reply. I did find out through their tech line that rubber backed tablecloths will react and leave marks on the finish. They recommend a light sand and another coat. I did put a finishing wax on one table, is there a way to remove the wax before sanding and applying another coat?

jwebber,
I've used the Deft on a couple of projects and like it but, based on the smell test, it takes several months to fully cure. I've now use the Minwax wipe-on as an alternative..no runs or drips, nice finish.
Wax can be removed by cleaning with naptha or mineral spirits. Use lots of rags so you remove the wax not smear it around.
