Hello All,
Sometime in the next week or so we will migrate all of the existing Tool Talk discussions to either Breaktime or Knots. Why? As I review many of the discussions here, it appears that a good majority of them belong in either Breaktime or Knots. Moving them offers a more centralized and organized location for this type of information.
How will this work? While you won’t be able to add to the discussions or to create new ones, the information will still be available to users for viewing. We’ll reorganize the discussions to determine which forum a particular discussion should get migrated to. Once all of the reorganizing is complete, we are going to transfer everything over to either Knots or Breaktime. At that point, you’ll be able to continue discussion of tools in the forum best suited to the subject.
If you have any questions or comments regarding this please let me know. -Mark

I liked the forum being right here. Separate. Easy to find strictly tool issues.
But there is a separate tools folder at BT. I never could understand why they wanted to put its duplicate here.
Welcome to the Taunton University of Knowledge FHB Campus at Breaktime. where ... Excellence is its own reward!
I get confused with the BT folder. Maybe they had to put it here for people like me.
Odd thing is that I never realized that this site was here until about a month ago.
What are the chances of adding a hand tool section to the knots forum ? I realize that it could fall under general tools but it would be nice to have quiet place to go.

BrentS,
That is part of the plan, over the next few weeks we are going to be reworking a good many of the folders on Knots. -MarkSYSOP[email protected]Have you updated your forum profile lately? Please Do!

Just reminding everyone that Tool Talk will be closing down in the next couple of days. In the meantime I have set it so that no New discussions can be started and that users can only reply to exsiting ones. Thanks-Mark

Sorry. Doesn't make much sense to me. If it wasn't being used, I could see it. Both particpants at knots and BT use biscuit joiners, table saws, hand and powered hand tools. Who determines what goes where, and for that matter, is the BT tools folder going to have subfolders for the different catagories? Or is this site gonna just vanish and the BT Tools folder remain unchanged?
I'm disappointed. I appreciate it being here, and it's yours to do with as you please, which I guess you're gonna do. Would like to know the real reason for it's demise, though. And not some half-baked, spew-it-forth-to-satisfy-the-masses rhetoric.

Nick,
First let me start with the existing tool folders on BT and Knots. Yes we are going to be expanding the tool categories in both BT and Knots to offer more tool specific categories. We are going to start with Knots and then when we have that reworked we are going to do the same with BT. When we created this forum we heard many a complaint from users that we where diluting the tool discussions in the other forums so this has been in the works basically since we created it, just have not had the time to invest in getting it reworked until now.The usage here is really very low in comparison to the other forums so by moving everything over to BT and Knots we felt it would provide a more centralized place for the discussion of tools.
I hope that answers your questions but if not please let me know. -MarkSYSOPGot a question about the forums? email me at:[email protected]
New folks are often confused about which forum to post in. A common occurrence is people posting construction questions in House Chat.
It would help if you changed the wording in the heading so that instead of just "Knots", "Breaktime", and so forth, it said something like "Knots" then underneath "Woodworking", under "Breaktime", "Construction", and so on.
WayneL,
Thanks for the feedback. -MSYSOP[email protected]Have you updated your forum profile lately? Please Do!
