I am almost finished with my two beds for my China dolls.. Twin sized but a bit bigger..
I now need something to drape on all sides and the top that are fireproof AND in a Chinese style.
Any thoughts?

morning will,
does your chicago area have a china town type neighborhood? i guess most big cities do as the chinese were much of the labor force back when. congrats on getting those beds done, i know it's been a long road and i'll wager the girls are looking forward to snoozing in their new beds.

My little one was here in the bed I made for her yesterday but she was sick. She seemed happy in there... I told her the Dragons were from China and would protect her...
Chicago has a great China town,, Now I need to get my China babies out of school to go there~
I will ask my daughter to go there some weekend...
I remember one night looking in on my 3 (then little) girls all asleep side by side in beds I had made. Felt great!I'd just got back from a 3 week trip and had bought a new camera so I captured the moment on film.
Years ago I saw a fireproof spray at a fabric store. I can't remember if you have to reapply after washing.

Yes... but they want to sell be Silk that I CANNOT afford!
There must be a flame retardant treatment for cloth. After all, kids pajamas have to be made of something that doesn't go poof. But whether you buy a gallon and treat any cloth, I have no idea.
Once you've found your cloth, then find the person who can make something in the right style. Let us know if you have to buy flame retardant cloth or you can make any cloth fire proof.

I have several places I have found that will make fire resistant. None say fire PROOF.
I think hardly anything is fire PROOF!
But I understand your thoughts.
Hi Will ,
You can buy flame retardant fabric that comes that way. We use it when ever we use fabric in a public place ,code .
I will give you the name of a fabric company and the Website , they may or may not sell to you but if there is a fabric warehouse that sells retail to the public that will be your best bet .
My wife is the expert on fabric but thinks you may not find an Asian theme but perhaps you can do that with color combinations.
http://www.kasmirfabrics.com try this link see if it helps
The Chicago got to have fabric mill outlet stores , look in the Yellow pages .
We also have sent fabric to a place down in California to have treated as well , that is another option .
Hope this helps some , let me know how you do
regards dusty
Thank you.
I saved the link to look at later. Family death that comes first for most of my time right now...
I have until Monday for the wake and furneral.. Hardly ever talked to us but that is OK by me. I cut off alot of old friends when I married and had my first baby daughter. Things just changed! ALOT!
As to China theme I was just thinking of Bamboo stalks, Bamboo Leaves and Flowers of some type. Something a girl would like without being very 'over artistic'. Just pretty things for a girl. Maybe just Cherry blossoms or the like in a 'sort of' see throught cloth so she can sort of 'hide from us grown up people'?
I have seen some wonderful silk that I would get in a heartbeat.. But way out of my pocket book!
Is Silk fire resistant?

Will , Sorry about your family loss.
My wifes brother. A HUGE man and no fat! I like him because he never beat me up for dating his sister.. I just got a REAL Warning about hurting her... EVER!
In the middle 1950's I saw his wife as his bride. She was just perfect for him.. They remain mates forever as I do to for his sister that died in 1989...
Now, I have to go today for her wake... I am not sure what to say to him...
Will , Just being there for him and offering yourself and support is all.
d
I went and said to him. You look the same as always. He said exercise taking care of her.. I KNEW he was serious. She was a strong woman but lovely just the same.
He said to me, Nothing to say to me.. I know you loved my sister and did the same care and lost your job doing it.
We left it at that.. I KNOW he loves his wife as I did his sister!
What do they do to fabric to make it flame resistant? does it withstand cleaning?
Can they do that with rice paper? Thanks
Hi Shoe ,
They actually submerge or otherwise saturate the fabrics . When done professionally they should take a light cleaning depending on the details.
Have no idea about the Rice paper , can it get wet ? I'm guessing they un roll the fabric off the bolt or roll and run it through the solution and prolly continue to roll it out to dry.
