any thoughts on this? i have been reading all the threads on buy/build your own router top and have been looking at all the options and have decided to buy… at this point. anyways i’m pretty sure i’m going to get the hartville tool router table top w/ router plate http://www.hartvilletool.com/product/10942. 99$ has everthing i would have built into my own for like 10 bucks more so what the heck. so i see this cmt phenolic (better?) table for …. 99$ w/plate, https://ssl.cyberlaunch.net/sommerfeldtools/addtoorder.asp?col=1&part_num=999.501.09 what do you guys think? thanks in advance

anyone?
i read in the archives that you heard that the cmt router table was talked about highly, do you recall where? i can't find any threads on it. thank you
Go to the woodworking magazine websites and do a search of past articles. Most of them seem to have an annual router review, along with parts; especially American Woodworker. Look up router tables and see what issues the reviews are in...

Thanks again everyone. I went with the Hartville table and fence, and I got thier stand as well for $195. All things considered I'm pretty happy with it and the price was right forme as well.
Phenolic is supposed to sag less than MDF. You'd need a thicker MDF top to make it sag less. I like the idea of being able to insert the PC guide bushings. I have the CMT top that they used to sell (I think only Sommerfeld sells it now) that is one piece (as opposed to an insert). I build my own table following one of his DVD's (I got most of his DVDs and they are great). I prefer the one piece top myself as I always had a problem catching an edge on the insert. I don't know if you need the guide bushings or not. I never have. If you get the Sommerfeld one, you can get the DVD's cheap, too.
