I mill it seperately and mitre it into the opening. Glue and clamps.
The function of cockbeading is to protect veneered drawer fronts. If your's aren't veneered, I'd simply bead the drawer fronts themselves.
As far as technique... there are many Taunton publications that do the step-by-step.
