Where is Jon Arno when you need him?!
Anyone know if cocobolo is rosewood, related to rosewood, used in place of rosewood — or what?
Thanks,
Alan – planesaw

Yes, cocobolo is a true rosewood and member of the dalbergia family, and originates from central/south america. It's heavier than some other rosewoods and is often used instead of other rosewood species.
It's a nice wood that machines nicely. Beware of the oils, some people are allergic to it.
FWW had an artivle on Rosewoods some time ago, check the archives for it. It might be one of Jon's articles, and mentions a zillion woods that are rosewoods (and some that aren't).
Thanks for the info!!!!

For an answer to your question regarding Cocobolo just pick up the phone and call 727/521-0616 and ask for Walter or Harlan. They have a wealth of such knowledge.
Yup , Jon now has a new job. He is in direct competition with my Uncle Clay Who according to his wife (my favorite Aunt 75 years old) is a daisy pusher. She actually writes this on any form that asks for "husbands occupation".

A bit of humor.....more or less.
Yes, I knew Jon was gone. Guess I just wasn't obvious enough in my original question.
Do you currently live between Milano and Bergamo?
Alan - planesaw
Yep, still live here in a small town called Basiano, 22 years now. (if you look you might find it on a map, might )
And ,yes ,I still miss Jon's posts not often do you find that much information easily available in one place.
He left a big Knot hole when he went.

Born and raised there? Lived elsewhere?
Our daughter lived in Florence for several years. Back in the States for about 5 years now. With two of our grandchildren, we are very glad.
