Coffee table leg Brad nut and threading issues
I have a coffee table that has 1 leg missing it’s Brad nut. It looks like someone had used epoxy to try and fix it prior but it wrenched out.
I bought a Brad nut replacement but it is small and turns out there’s some issue with the kegs threading (epoxy?). I cleaned the threads of the leg bolt but I can’t get the Brad nut all the way threaded. So now I have multiple problems and I’m not sure which way to go about fixing it.
i could go permanent and epoxy the hole and fox the leg in place. I don’t think replacing the bolt is an easy job and I’m not sure boring the hole deeper to put the half threaded Brad nut deeper is the best answer. Kinda just looking for the best direction to go

The first thing to check is if the threads match. You might be mixing metric and imperial. Pretty common for a mismatch to partially thread on and stop.
As always photos would help.
The brad nut you bought is the wrong size or thread type.
Keep in mind the thread TYPE could be wrong. There are different kinds aside from Metric and Imperial. UNF, ACME, NPT, BSP, Square, Tapered ect. The list goes on...I'm no expert i know there are different kinds. It's probably just a standard Coarse thread. But I know the same size between them can act the way you describe.
I know they make cheap thread identifier tools. You can pick one up for Imp and Met.
Just google thread types and do some reading to help you determine what type of thread it is, too.
Pictures would definitely help.
Once I know the thread type, I usually buy an assortment box in a case like this. It's kind of a brute-force way to deal with it.
I like having as many different types of hardware on hand as possible, and one-off tasks are the perfect excuse for me to expand the collection.
