Hi Does someone have first hand experience with the Andreou Machinery 12″ combination machine or the laguna XSD 310? Or know of independent reviews. I am looking for space saving machines with decent capacity.
Cheers
Joe

Do a search for users groups in yahoo of combination machines. Felder has a user group on their site I believe as well and there is at least one out of the UK.
Hi Joe,
If you go into the Yahoo groups that Rick mentioned and do a search on MiniMax, Felder (and possibly other brand names also,) you'll get the user groups.
Someone's selling a MiniMax (SCM) combo unit on the MiniMax group at the moment.
Cheers,
eddie

Are you the same person I spoke with last week?? I have had the Andreou 12" machine since April '05, and so far so good. Like many others my budget for a combo machine was limited, so the 20" Felder will have to wait for some winning lottery numbers. The price for 3 functions is good, although I have yet to put the mortiser through its paces. The machine has been great for me so far. I got it to replace a 6" Jet jointer and Parks 12" planer. Nothing I have thrown at it has put a strain on the motor or its capacity, so there is plenty of power at 3 HP. The fence is a aluminum affair that attaches like other jointers-in the middle of the machine. So you are not able to push it up against the wall. Laguna sells a replacement fence that attaches to the infeed table, and I am thinking of getting that as an upgrade. As with most J/P machines, you must lower the planer table to clear the dust hood, and crank it up to use the planer. It takes about 40 to 50 revolutions of the wheel to get the planer beds up to plane 1". But all but the high end machines have this quirk; not a problem for me since I do not run a production shop. All of the features of the Andreou are similar to the Laguna. Seems like a knock-off or copy in my eyes. Good machine for the money; just not in the same league as a Felder or Minimax; not in the same price range either. Good luck with your decision.
Also-it cost about $350 to ship to my eastern NC home; inquire about shipping cost to your zip code, as this has to be figured into the cost.
