As i have been talking about lately, i have an order for a pub table & am trying to design a top for it. my customer is a safari hunter & i would like to use some exotic wood. i have been experimenting with red oak as the field material in an octogon shape & wrap the outside with 8 sections of possibly wenge or zebrawood 6-7 inches wide with the outside perimeter of the table cut round. i have glued up some wenge to red oak as a sample but while sanding, the oak grain gets discolored with wenge dust & visa versa with the wenge being affected by the oak. any suggestions? how about when doing inlay work, is this a problem there too? thanx again…

Don't use a sander for this project. Invest in some scrapers and use them to achieve the result that you are after.
