Complicated Cat basket that failed, but turned out great!
Greetings, fellow woodworkers!
I’m new to this forum and wanted to share my first post. I’ve just finished a unique cat-inspired dodecahedron basket made from oak. It was quite an adventure! I’d love to hear your thoughts on the video. It’s only my second video and I’d love your feedback to improve!
Greetings!

Cool build, nice video, nice work......
I love woodworking videos and YouTube as much as the next guy, but...
I'm not sure this is the place to be posting YT videos for exposure.
Let the YT comment section advise you on your YT videos...
We all know where to go if we're looking for videos.
I am not trying to be rude, and maybe I'm off base here (let me know). I personally find this post off-putting and disingenuous.
Hey, Thank you for the compliment!
I hate that I gave off a disingenuous impression...
I'd prefer feedback from other genuine woodworkers. This is my second video of a project, and the first got some safety comments that I found really useful and I tried to avoid this time.
To be honest I'm not a veteran craftsman, so I rely on real woodworkers tell me if I'm unintentionally "teaching" dangerous practices. I'm no instructor by far, but I've been made aware that people do follow my example.
I hoped that this was a place where I could get some non-troll/keyboard-warrior feedback...
If I'm in the wrong place by everyone standard here, let me Know and I'll leave.

I made a point to be clear these were only my feelings about it. I didn't say anyone was right or wrong to be here. Who am i? I'm super new here myself.
That's the great part. we're free to share our opinions, disagree, and debate.
Hopefully without hating each other.
The post just feels strange to me, PERSONALLY.... Imagine if Youtubers were posting their videos here...It would be polluted so quickly.
It's interesting how you got it posted like Chi said. you must be pretty savvy. Or im a dope.
Is this a thing here? Posting video links is bad/rude? I wouldn't have guessed. The file size for pictures is often an issue. I figured not being able to post videos was another issue. I just use it as a place to house the video. Good to know.

I skimmed through it. It seemed very professionally put together, and is a nice project. I have no problem at all with it being here. Enjoy it, or don't.
Where I draw the line is things that are advertisements of some sort. I didn't see anything like that here.
I too thought it was a nice video of a unique build. No problems with the video being on the site to me.
Every forum I'm a member of has the ability to embed a video, this is nothing new. I don't know how the OP did it but it's here, it's woodworking, it's fine if you want a cat bed.
I have another (currently dormant) YouTube channel (Complex Lego technics, look for "shadow elenter") before this one and that still has 68.000 Subscribers and 17.000.000 views to this day.
That one makes me a Whopping 100€ a month. trust me, If you want to make money don't become a YouTuber ;-)
Offsetting some of the cost would be nice, but that's a loooooong way off haha.
The video looks somewhat "professionally put together" because my editing skills are somewhat transferabel, though making Woodworking video's is en entirely different beast.
This is just me genuinely sharing the hobby, glad most of you see it that way :-)
I personally enjoy seeing what other woodworkers are doing on YouTube. I've posted a couple myself. I asked permission first and the editors said it was okay as long as it was more of a “I’m sharing this” vibe vs. a spammy” vibe.
Maybe adding a YouTube or "Videos" section to the forum would be worth considering?
Not a bad idea. Always looking for new woodworking videos rather than rewatching the New Yankee Workshop videos for literally the 10th time.
