In the current issue the article on compoud angles has me a little confused. I built the angle block as noted and successfully made a compound angle butt joint. But when I tried to follow the instructions for the mitered compound angle joint I got nowhere. I’m not sure if it is me or if the instructions are not clear. Has anyone tried the method described? Can someone give me more info?
Thanks

I just tried this method this evening and it worked out very well. I did not make the butt joint I was more interested in the miter. I set everything up just like the butt, left all the adjustments the same, except the blade angle that is set up with the 45 deg drafting square.
The one thing is that I paid very close attention to the orientation of the setup block in all the photos.
I was very pleased with how well the joints came out. Give it another try and see how it works. If you get distracted in the middle of the process you could have missed a step. I really hate when that happens to me.

Weez..thanks. Did you notice that when you set up the 45 degree square that the blade angle exceeded 45 degrees...which my deklta could not do? That aside, I will try again now that I know it must be me. I'll start freah in the morning. This 'jig' will be a lifesaver for me and the xmas gift trays that I am planning to make this year. Thanks again for your input.

I my case I did not exceed my blade angle did not exceed 45 deg. What is the starting slope of the box you are bulding? I have a right tilt table saw, so I went to the right side to do the set up. If you have a left tilt go to the left side of the saw. The mag is in the shop so I don't have the photo hancy to verify what he is doing in the photo.

I used 10 degree slope....Have a right tilt blade. But I am not getting the cut right...
I still need to get down to the shop and check myself out. Thanks
