Compound miter saw makes curved cut
Hi,
yesterday I was cutting a number of rails for panel doors to length. I use a (cheap) compound miter saw. The cut (4.5″) is near the max width of the saw (5″). Material is oak, thickness 7/8″. I noticed that I got a curved cut, consistant. The variation from end to middle is about +0.02″. This is enough to be noticed when putting the stile and rail together after routing a cope & stick joint.
I suspenct the blade rather than the miter saw. Anyone experience this before.
Gert

Hi,
thanks for the links. The first one describes exactly my problem. Most answers indicate that indeed the blade is probably the cause. I'll get one with more teeth and see if that solves the problem,
Gert.
It sounds as though the blade is flexing -- try a thicker one.
