All, just a note to pass on the Garage-Pak web site for compressed air piping system. The aluminum pipe is a new one on me.
In this forum, I am usually reading the arguments of iron pipe versus PVC. Take a look and let me know what you think.
The ease of making the connections versusus threaded iron pipe is appealing.

I looked at that before choosing to do my new shop in copper. Interesting stuff, but expensive, especially if you install a lot of drops as I did.
There's a company called Chem-aire that has an ABS plastic that is air line rated. PVC is not rated for air as most should know. OSHA doesn't allow it, unsafe.
RickL, thanks for the feedback on ABS vs PVC. I am trying to collect feedback on the aluminum piping system offered by Garage-Pak. So far, I have not seen a discussion on the aluminum in this forum.
I did read a review or two on Garage-Pak over on the Garage Junkies forum, http://www.garagejunkies.net/. I don't recall exactly when or in what thread it was discussed, but you can do a topic search to find out. There's an ongoing thread on compressed air lines at http://www.garagejunkies.net/showthread.php?t=1392, it may be in there someplace.
I checked that system out when I saw an ad for it in finehomebuilding (or somewhere). The first thing I thought was that it would be pretty handy to have a reconfigurable air piping system like that... the second thing I thought was "crikey, it costs a fortune."
It's pretty tough, IMO, to beat copper. Not only is it affordable but with basic tools like a tubing cutter and a torch you are good to go.
tangomike, thanks for the input. I agree. Some basic skills and a few tools will go a long way compared to Garage-Pak.
