I am interested in creating a design for a grandfather style clock using one of the existing types of movements with weights, chain or cable drive, etc. I am looking for a contemporary style that reveals the weights and chimes and is of a more straight lined approach than the conventional styles. I have played with possible designs for a long time without achieving the style I desire. Do you have any examples of this type of design or suggestions. Some hints of arts and crafts or Greene & Greene style would be acceptable. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

HI DRL,
Our online gallery has a few dozen examples of tall clocks, and might give you some design ideas.
It sounds like you are capable of drafting up your own plans based on design concepts but if you need help determining construction elements for any image you find, let me know.
Here's a link to the clocks category page in The Gallery. Check out the one by Robert Newman on page two. Also, there are plans available for Mario Rodriguez's mantel clock on the same page that you might be able to adapt.
