Does anyone have a source where I might find outlines or sample contracts. I make custom furniture and would like to have a standard contract for my customers and myself when making an agreement for a commission. thanks, Jim

*Jim, I have been doing commissions for over twenty years. Purchase the book by Tad Crawford, Business and Legal Forms for Crafts ISBN: 1-880559-87-0. It comes with a CD-ROM with all the contracts on it. It has contracts for commission work. You will need to revise it and have your lawyer check it over to make it "kosher" for the state you work in. You should also have a PRELIMINARY DESIGN CONTRACT and a CHANGE OF WORK ORDER. I use all three with every commission.Another good book by Tad Crawfoad is Legal Guide for the Visual Artist, ISBN: 1-58115-003-2. Oh, and another must have book: Business Forms and Contracts for Craftspeople(in plain English)by DuBoffISBN: 0-934026-83-1I have used all these books as the basis for my contract and have had numerous lawyers refine it.(I tend to do a lot of commissions for lawyers.) My contract has saved my tail so many times!Good luck,Mark Levin
