can anyone tell me who makes/sells a GOOD coping saw blade? The local hardware store variety stink.

I've gotten the best deals on eBay, getting excellent vintage blades for my vintage saws at very low prices. Do a search on coping saw and be prepared to skip over the zillion cheap chinese saws up for auction. There are some real gems of deals buried in there. Right now someone is selling an old store display box with 22 packs of blades in it, but there are other choices, too.
