I HAVE SEVERAL ELECTRIC TOOLS WHOSE CORDS ARE FRAYED EITHER AT THE PLUG OR AT THE TOOL. THE ENSUING RESULT IS THAT THE INSULATION AROUND THE WIRES IS EXPOSED, FOLLOWED BY THE THE COPPER WIRES BEING EXPOSED. OBVIOUSLY, AN ELECTRIC SHOCK WAITING TO HAPPEN.
I HAVE TRIED ELECTRICAL TAPE BUT THAT SOLUTION DOES NOT LAST LONG. ARE THERE OTHER REMEDIES I SHOULD BE TRYING?
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED,

The only safe solution is to make-up and install new wires and plugs. If the tools are not too old, you may be able to order made up wire and plug assemblies from the tool manufacturer. But, making your own is not difficult.

Just trim the ends of the cords & install a new plug, or re-attach to tool. At most, on the tool end of the cord, you'd lose a couple of inches of cord length.
