I would appreciate anyone’s ideas or information on use of corrugated fastners in building face frame cabinets or
picture frames and in other woodworking projects. Not the old drive-in type, the ones used in air nailers. I knew an
old cabinet maker several years ago that used them in all his face-frame construction and other projects too.
Have not seen them used lately by any custom cabinet makers, they have all gone to biscuits or pocket holes !
Why ?? Also if you were going to use them, what size would be best, one inch, three quarters, half inch ? I’m
talking about in LENGTH now, not depth. thanks, backhoe

Are you talking about a Sencor tool made by Senco?http://www.senco.com/ToolDetails.aspx?c=4&k=470001N
They are a very specialized tool that you would have to special order through a Senco dealer.

Although corrugated fasteners were quick to install, even with a hammer, the joints produced weren't very strong. Plus, nothing said "cheap construction" better than a corrugated fastener.

I have used them for joining and edge gluing plywood together for things other then fine cabinet work. They work well but I hammer them in by hand - I wouldn't purchase a gun for that purpose unless a was building shipping crates or shipping skids on an ongoing basis - I have 2-3 sizes around - 1/4 in. - 1/2 in. and just under 3/4 in.

Don't be despondent - a poster asked for help - he/she is not to your skill level yet - why not educate if you can -
not everyone knows you're joking - the site is in enough trouble - build it back up - bring on new people by helping them -

here we go, here we go. I over heard these two beginner woodworkers discussing corrugated fasteners down at the Home Depot. As far as I could make out one has been using these fasteners and the other one is thinking of getting set up to use them. The one in the back ground seems to vacillate between anger at recalling his experience with the damned things, incredulity, and laughter at the thought of some one taking them seriously for handmade cabinet making. In the end he appears to be trying to climb the appliance display to escape further conversation of the subject as the newbie presses him for positive encouragement.
