My shop is surrounded by sugarcane fields. I get a lot of dirt type dust in my shop. Is it ok to cover my table saw, router table, etc. with old sheets or whatever to keep the dirt off or will this trap humidity and cause rust? Any help would be great!

Absolutely, just make sure the fabric is breatheable and clean off sawdust since that will absorb moisture. There are a number of companies that make machine covers.

For years, I have used those cheap, on-sale "throw blankets" that you can get at Target or Walmart. The work well for dust as well as helping to prevent rust if your shop is not heated.
