I was recently at Sears taking a look at the craftsman tools and was struck by how similar they appear to other tool brands. There was recently a post about the new table saw and its resemblance to Delta. The craftsman 2.25 HP router is the Bosch painted red and their jigsaw looks like the new Bosch also (well – kind of). Are craftsman tools just cheaper versions of bosch/delta/ect which can save me lots of cash or am I wrong in thinking this? As someone looking for a nice jigsaw, sander and biscuit cutter it would sure be nice if I can get top quality tools and still save some cash all for trading a blue/yellow tool for a black and red one.
Thanks again for all the advice. I love the posts.

in many cases, they are less expensive versions. For example, I have a craftsman belt sander (hand held kind) I'm virtually certain that it is the same as the bosch . Only difference to me is the color and the logo, and of course, the price.
I'm very happy with the sander.
Sears uses many manufacturers to make the stuff they brand.
(GE,Whirlpool,Maytag, and Electrolux have all been used to make major appliances for sears under the Kenmore name - heck even Maytag owns amana and magic chef)
FYI Craftsman lawnmowers are made by electrolux. Electrolux also makes poulan, Husqvarna (sp?) and a few other brands plus I think they make fridigair appliances...

Measure it with a micrometer, mark it with chalk, cut it with an ax.
