I am considering purchasing a Craftsman Compucarve but the reviews are so varied I can’t decide if I should. Some rate it a one and say it is junk and others say it is great. Have any of you tried one and if so is it a good choice?

I have several signs that were made by the Compucarve and am well pleased. The owner uses it for a hobby and is quite pleased with it. He had a few problems, but Sears responded and fixed the problems.
Hope this helps.

Check your craftsman club flyer. If memory serves right, they had that thing marked down another 100 bucks recently.
If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it.
And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

OK-Based on the two responses, neither of which is negative, I am going to purchase the Compucarve. In a couple of months I will give you a full report.
There was a discussion on CompuCarve back at the beginning of the year. In http://forums.taunton.com/fw-knots/messages?msg=33550.1
http://forums.taunton.com/fw-knots/messages?msg=33367.1it was noted that the CompuCarve was made for Sears by Carvewright (http://www.carvewright.com), and there was a forum athttp://www.sawmillcreek.org/forumdisplay.php?s=36226ac21ed38fcb3b7b708a67cf843a&f=8 You might want to take a look there for more information.Dan
Probably the easiest and best way to see what the users think and feel about the machine is visit their forum and prowl around and post a few questions you might have. Try here: http://forum.carvewright.com/
