Craftsman Style Estate/Garden Gate Plans
Did anyone see the ww or home improvement magazine -Feb or March issue 0 showing a Craftsman Style Estate Gate on the cover. Had complete measured drawings. The gate was green with rust trim. My wife lost the magazine, and I have a house nearing completion. I want that gate.
What magazine? What issue?

Sorry you haven't gotten any responses, it's been kinda crazy around here. Have you tried Breaktime?? There's a link up at the top of this page, next to the yellow "Network.com" text.

I went to Breaktime, and I'm not quite sure if I understand how it works. But I tried posting the same request there. I hope someone responds. If they don't my wife is a professional costume designer at the movie studios. I'll get a book of craftsman-style homes and gardens and have her do a detailed drawing of one. Her rendering skill is near photographic. With a sketch, my only task will be to dimensionalize everything in order to make a lumber list and cut list. That magazine had it all. Too bad the folks at This Old House and Taunton Press are so busy they couldn't respond to my query. I'd bet it's in one of their publications.ThanksGary
Not sure what you meant (exactly) in that last sentence. What are you expecting from the web guys that run this forum? Or were you referring to some other communication you had with other people?forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
I meant that emails to the editorial department staff of a few design magazines have so much other work, and don't seem too much time to respond to reader comments. I guess.About that link or part of the FWW forum you directed me to. I didn't understand how it works. So I am not sure what my posting accomplished. Was it a message broadcast to all forum members? Or was it to the managers of the forum at Taunton?GC
"Breaktime" is the forum for the Fine Homebuilding magazine, the way Knots if for Fine Woodworking. If you posted there, many more people will see it, and they'll be people that are, statistically, more likely to have seen the magazine of which you speak. Have you gone back to see if you got any responses? In a brief scan, I didn't see the post. Which folder did you put it in? (e.g., General Discussions, or Construction Techniques)??
Sounds like a primer for forum browsing is in order. Unfortunately, I have to go to work soon, so can't help much. However, if you click on "My Forums" agove (right-hand side under the orange) you'll see a list, and you can look for "to me" messages).forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
I'll follow your suggestion about using this forum instead of the one for FWW.I can't remember exactly where I posted it. Design - I believe. Could that original story have in in Fine Homebuilding afterall. I didn't think they include measured drawings for finish carpentry. But, I could be wrong.I appreciate your guidance. And I'll post a notice with a photograph when I get up to the new house and build the gate. The current issue of Workbench Magazine has plans for a Craftsman style Fence. With instructions. Using design elements from that, I can have my wife sketch out a matching gate.I just hope my new rural neighbors don't think, "Oh, boy. City folk." Thanks,Gary Curtis
Best of luck with the gate, Gary, do let us know/see how it turns out!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
