Craftsman Table Saw Motor Problem
When I turn on the saw, the motor starts to hum, the blade moves slightly, but will not turn over. If I spin the blade using a scrap piece of wood, it will eventually kick over and start to run. What is wrong with this saw motor?

Likely the start-run capacitor failed or the start switch is stuck. Compressed air for the switch and replacement for the capacitor. Lots of You-Tube videos and internet articles on this problem.
I concur with "Hammer", but there is a worse case scenario. The starter winding maybe the problem. I went through this issue recently and it was the windings. Good luck
I had the same problem and it turned out to be the centrifugal switch inside the motor. Easy enough to get to and once I readjusted it, it ran like new.
Nice to blow out all the saw dust out once I split the casing, which was part of the problem.
Simple solution from an old luddite. Throw out your table saw, buy a hand saw, learn to use said hand saw, and actually work the wood instead of the machine.
Just a thought from an old luddite.
Thanks for the advice. I took the simple route first and blew out the motor with my compressor, and so far the saw is working. I do own a hand saw and I think I should give it to the Maytag repairman.
