I need to fill in a few nail holes on a bathroom vanity just completed and have heard crayons can be used.Would like to get the closest match possible to the finish,which is 3 coats minwax wipe on poly (satin)….on cherry.Tkx for any input……….Paul

P.Reynolds, Well there are "crayons" out there for finishing up on stains and paint jobs, I have seen them in hardware stores and I'm sure the home depot type places have them too. I don't have the issue # in front of me, but I do recall them having been mentioned in a recent past issue of FW that went in depth into finishing products and advice. I am in a similar situation with finishing a project and I have to find the right shade/color etc and it is a bit maddening when you don't have what you know that you need at hand. Good luck.
*Can you color some wood putty with oil paint?
*I know that Elmer's wood putty can be stained or colored, at least thats what their statement implies on the putty container. Minwax makes these filler or staining crayons, look like a fat china marker. FWIW, Minwax also makes a dark (& light) wood filler, but you cannot sand it and it remains soft.
