My neighbor cut down a Silver Maple tree and let me take some of the logs. I got 4 logs, just under 1,000 BF in total. Average diameter is about 22″. It looks like there may be some Ambrosia in them. The ends are sealed with Anchorseal 2. I would like to get the logs to spalt, thereby increasing their beauty and value. They are currently stacked under some trees (in a really shady spot) on landscape timbers. I live in Maryland so it is fairly warm and fairly humid. Is there anything else I can/should do to up the odds of spalting? Hoping to cut them into 4/4 , 6/4 and 8/4 next summer.

Here are a bunch of comments on intentional spalting of logs/lumber. Maybe it will help.

There is plenty of information right here in Fine Woodworking, just search for "Spalting" and you'll get many articles on different methods and sources.
Be sure to remove the bark and treat for borers.
