i am going to make my own cove moulding and i am not sure what angle to back cut the moulding. what is the angle on crown moulding. the moulding will be about 3 1/2″ tall.

Some crown molding is run at a 45 degree to the wall but the more common industry standard is that the molding forms a 38 degree angle with the wall, that is it is more vertical. The edges of the molding that touch the floor and wall are basically cut to work with this angle, but often times they are slightly back beveled to insure a snug fit to the probably slightly rough wall and ceiling surfaces.
