I am completing a large bookcase/entertainment unit made out of solid walnut. It consists of 3 vertical units with the center unit being taller and deeper than the end units. I am now ready to add a crown molding to the units but have yet to work out a good profile design for this molding. I will be using my router table to make this molding (I don’t have a shaper). I am trying to get a classic profile that is 3 inches deep and 4 inches high. Can anybody recommend a source from which I might be able to find a good design?

Hi jrogerh, I don’t know what size router you have, but you may be able to make some nice looking moldings, by using several different bits, for a custom look, I did this a long time ago and was satisfied with the results. Good Luck. garyowen
Did you include a photo or drawing in your post?
jrog,
Chippendale's Director has been a design source for furniture makers for over two hundred years. If you are looking for traditional molding designs, I'm sure you can find inspiration there. It is available as a reprint from Dover Publications.

Is there a web address for Director?
