I need to build a curved beam for a pergola. The beam will hold 6 rafters and will be finished with PVC trim. Size is 6″x8″ finished. I could have a steel beam bent or bend marine plywood. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

What kind of wood are you making the pergola from? You could laminate the curved beam from the same kind of wood by using polyester glue and it would stand up to the weather.
Thanks for your interest. The rafters will be PVC with poly columns. The PVC has no structural qualites so I want to wrap curved steel or wood. No one here has done this before.

cido..
how curved is curved?
how long is long?
as the other post mentioned... maybe stairstepping some stock together, and cutting out the pattern will work...
also depends on the load..
