I normally hang out at Breaktime, but figured I’d have more luck with this one over here:
I find myself in need of a custom router bit to reproduce some casing.
Surfing finds dozens of shops who make them.
Looking for any personal recommendations or experience with having custom bits fabricated.

I like http://www.magnate.net/ they have a large selection of bits and there prices are very nice too.
I had them make a custom router bit for me two years ago. They have step by step direction to follow, Its really easy. You should check them out.
I don't know who is the best out there, but for the money, I've found nothing that beets Magnate.
You can also try moore profile at http://www.wmooreprofiles.com/shapcol2.htm
Though on their website, they don't say anything about making custom router bits, they do. They typically make custom shaper cutters. I have bought stock shaper knives from them and they are quite helpful and knowledgable, good luck

You can look at Infinity.com, they have a new router bit that uses replaceable "blades" or cutters for doing differant profiles. Might be cheaper to get one of these and have a special profile cut for it .
You might also check out Whiteside. I looked into having a large moulding bit made for the base mould on case pieces. The estimate I got was $270 for the bit. It was a basic cove with a filet and thumbnail.
They were the only company I found that would use my drawings since the profiles were partial ellipsis and not true radii. Everyone else I spoke to said the moulding profiles would be based on some portion of a radius, not what I wanted.
Shaper knives were the same price.
Even though I did not have Whiteside make the bit. They were a great company to work with. Responsive to my needs, and didn't try to sell me something I didn't want. Of course this comes with a price.
