Hello. I’m trying to make a cut in a 4″ baseboard at an angle of 22.5 degrees. I have a nice mitre box that incorporates a bow saw; also, a Bosch sliding compound mitre saw. However, each of the above mentioned saws are only calibrated to cut 45 degrees off perpendicular, whereas my task is to cut 90 minus 22.5 equals 67.5 degrees off perpendicular. I tried to make the cut freehand, and I was successful cutting the 22.5 degree angle, but it didn’t stay vertical througout the cut. I guess my manual skills just aren’t up to snuff. Any suggestions on how to better cut the 22.5 degree angle would be appreciated. Thanx in advance. .. Ken

Hi Ken,
Try this miter saw jig sent in by a reader to our Methods of Work department. It should do the trick. If not, let me know and I'll try to come up with some alternatives.
