cutting circle in single thickness veneer
I am making a 20 inch wide round veneer pattern and I need to cut the circumference of the veneer before it is glued down to the substrate. Radius is 10 inches. I would appreciate suggestions on how best to do this without using a router trammel. Would any of these plastic gizmoes that have a round cutting edge work on thin veneer or is there something I can make with an x-acto blade? Thanks for your help.

You don't want to use a trammel because it requires a center point that you don't want to appear in you thin veneer I assume. You could possibly double stick something to the center of your veneer for the point that will protect the veneer from the point. But... I'd probably bandsaw a circle out of medite or Masonite and trim it perfect with a router and trammel- double stick my veneer to the new wheel and then cut my veneer with a flush trim bit.
Why does it have to be cut before applying to the substrate?
