I’m driving to finish my buffet with bypass doors and need help on the finger slots in the doors. How do I cut them? I have a slot cutting router bit (1/4″) but that seems to skinny. I could do 2 cuts and get close to 1/2″ but can’t trust myself to make these perfectly match. I also have an 8″ box joint blade set that cuts a flat bottom kerf. This seems like the cut would have too much slope and not look right.
Solution? Buy a 3/8″ or 1/2″ slot cutting bit? Any other bright ideas?

2 cuts on the router table with stop blocks. Cut them just short and finish up with a chisel. The 2 "handles" will never be close enough together to notice a slight variance, but a slight variance is fine anyway when you are making something instead of buying it.
OR, you can just mark them out and cut the grooves with hand tools. It's easier than you might think and more satisfying than the router.
