Being a newbie to this column maybe I can get some help from the experts here. I will be starting a kitchen door project and have a Grizzly 3hp shaper 7000 & 10000 speeds. Will be doing just rails and stiles using red oak for flat panel doors. What works best 1/2 router bit sets or shaper cutters,- staked, reversable or individual. Any brands to avoid? Also best techniques or jigs for cutting the ends on the stiles. Thanks, Roger

It is a wealth of information and describes many jigs and fixtures. As to your questions:
Shaper knives are best for shapers-router bits are for routers. Most shaper knife set are reversable by just flipping the set which brings me to sets.
Get the best you can afford and the largest diameter too. 1 1/4" bore sets can be bushed down to 3/4" and they cut much better. There are also insert style cutterheads with replacable sets that take some of the sting out of changing profiles after the initial cost. Most of these heads are cut from aluminum and make the whole process easier on the shaper. The carbide inserts are not sharpenable usually but replacement is no more than the cost of a sharpening.
Crosscutting jigs are available (Delta comes to mind) or you can build a similar one yourself. Just be sure that you need some sort of hold downs to make crosscutting accurate. Joe
