I recently received a Porter Cable 690LR “fixed-base” router as a Christmas present.
My question: Does PC’s D-handle work with this router? It looks like it’s the right size. But then, what do you do with the long power cord on the router?? Seems like it would get in the way.

Yes, it works and yes, that long cord does get in the way. I used to coil my cord around the top of the router and cinch it with a twister tie. One day, tired of improvising, I sat down and took the cord out of the top of the router and shortened it to about 18 inches. I use my 690 in a table setup also, with the outlet right under the top, so it comes in handy to have a short cord under there too. I imagine my warrantee expired the minute I clipped the cord, but I never heard of a 690 needing repair anyway. That D handle is a pretty nice attachment. It adds good stability to a hand held small router.
Yep, the motors are the same, except for the length of the cord.
