Trying to decide on Dado blades. Have narrowed it to Forrest or Freud. Is the the Forrest worth the extra dollars?

There are a number of good dado blades. Forrest is only one.
However, if you are willing to spend the money for a Forrest, you should consider the Freud "Dial A Width" dado (http://www.freudtools.com/woodworkers/rep/sawblades/Dadoes/html/Dadoes_1.html
It's their standard, top of the line with an adjustable hub that can be adjusted easily to increase or decrease the cut width in small increments. No shims are required. It really speeds things up with today's variable thickness sheet goods. It cuts dados as well as the Forrest.
Love my Freud 206...

I had the Freud SD608 dial a width dado and loved it. I have no hesitation about recommending it. I was real sad to sell it because I replaced my tablesaw and I could not have it re-bored to fit my new saw. I don't have any first hand knowledge of the Forrest dado but I do have several of their saw blades and they are of excellent quality. I don't think you could go wrong with either set.

If you've got that kind of jingle in your jeans (to be able to afford the Forrest) I agree with the idea of going to the Freud Dial-a-Width, a true stacked dado set that doesn't need shims. I have the SD206 and it does a great job. Can only image how good the DAW set is. I'm pretty sure a couple people here have them, so you might ask specifically.

I just bought the Forrest Dado King at Rockler for $225 (using a 25% off coupon)... sweet deal. Plus, it comes in a cool orange holder that looks like a refugee from a Hot Wheels collection.
Thanks for your responses. Looks like I'm in a Win-Win situation. Now to wait for one of those 25% off coupons. I'm leaning towards the Freud Dial set. Thanks again.
