I’m in need of dark paste wax to finish a walnut project. All I can find at the big box stores is the “natural” minwax kind which I’m afraid will show in the pores as a lighter color. Any ideas on where to get a dark variety without shopping on line? Do hardwood flooring places typically carry it?

Edit: There are no woodworking stores in my area and I was hoping not to have to drive an hour or more just to pick up one can.

A number of places carry Howard's products, big boxes, hardware stores, antique shops, etc.

If you are near Rockler stores, they carry Liberon paste wax in various colors

I've only used it for touching up not a whole object, but how about some shoe polish?
Woodcraft carries Briwax in colors.
Woodcraft carries Brix wax. It comes in a variety of colors. It's a great product and performs excellent.
Just be aware that Briwax is a restorative wax and contains tolulol. This may dissolve some finishes. Briwax II is mineral spirits based.
Thanks to all all for the heads up. I guess I failed to mention that there are no woodworking stores within an hour drive and I was hoping some other type of retailer would carry it locally, like a paint store or hardwood flooring store.
It's possible, the Do-It-Best hardware store on the corner carries Howard's. But I've been in hardware stores in small towns where the inventory on everything was one or two deep.
You can get Briwax from the Lee Valley and Woodcraft catalogs. If you don't have a catalog, you can go online (http://www.leevalley.com and http://www.woodcraft.com) and place your order. They delivery, so you don't have to make the trip to town.
I also like Liberon waxes. You can purchase on the internet.
Chris Minnick told me he uses brown shoe polish.

It's been probably ten years, but I got a can of Minwax Dark Paste Wax from an Ace Hardware store.
