I’m building my own kitchen cabinets and have planned on using 3/4″ cherry false fronts on Baltic Birch drawers. One of the drawer fronts is 13″ high (across grain, that is), and the rest are 9, 7, and less. Gap between drawers is about 1/8″. How can I join these fronts to the drawers and still allow for movement and maintainance of the gap?

Elongate the holes through the draw box so that when the front expands or contracts, the screw will move with it. Actually, the amount a 13" piece of Cherry will move can be accomodated by just drilling a slightly larger pilot hole in the draw box.
