I looking for a “workable” filler that will turn like wood (and won’t be too hard on tools) and have a wood like look after it’s finished. The work piece is a cross section of hardwood (hickory, I’m told) that has a 3×1″ crescent shaped void, 1″ deep. I’m trying to turn the piece into a shallow bowl, 16″ in diameter. The void needs to be filled with something that is “turnable”, but I don’t know what to use. Tom

tom,
two part epoxy mixed with fine sawdust, of the same wood you're working, will do well.
