Recently lost out on a bid for a 36 inch Tannewitz Bandsaw. I now have a chance at a 30 inch DeGroot bandsaw. Don’t know a thing about DeGroot. Anybody out there know some background info on this saw, and whether it would be a good one. Don’t want it so much for resawing, although I will use it for this purpose as well. Just looking for a large, beefy, all purpose bandsaw. Would this DeGroot fit the bill? Can parts still be obtained for this machine?
Thanks.

You sure Degroot is the maker?

I think they are a dealer who sold the machine at one time perhaps. I've been fixing up old machines over the years and as long as the basics are there it shuldn't be a problem. Retro-fit tires, switches, bearings and guides are no problem. I've had parts welded, ground and or machined.

Thanks rsl.
They are calling it a DeGroot, but I don't see that name appearing on it anywhere. The machine resembles a Yates, but is different in some of its features.
